Allegresse Vineyards introduces a Late Harvest Cabernet Sauvignon.  We have named this little sweetie “Sugar Shack”

Release Date: 11/27/2006

Sugar Shack is very special. While checking the vineyard in late November I discovered three areas in the Cabernet Sauvignon where we still had fruit on the vine. Imagine winter in the vineyard, 29 degrees with frost on the ground, the vines had darkened and bear no leaves. As I began to taste the fruit it was truly a miracle. The flavors were so intense yet sweet like candy. I quickly ran to get my refractometer and tested the sugars. I could not believe my eyes. I had to test it twice. The sugars were over the scale. My refractometer only registers to 30 Brix.

I called Heather immediately from the vineyard and together we decided to pick the fruit and give it a try.

The fruit was picked in early December and the sugars came in at 33 Brix. After a 48 hour cold soak the final reading was 36 Brix, WOW! We inoculated and fermentation began.

This dessert wine is perfect for the holiday table. It drinks well on its own or with a special pairing of flourless chocolate cake, fudge, dark chocolates, cheese cake and more.

You must try this wine! We hope to produce Sugar Shack in the future however it is truly up to Mother Nature.

Allegresse Vineyards introduces its signature wine,
“Runaway” Cabernet Sauvignon

We have been waiting patiently for “Runaway”.  Our Cabernet Sauvignon is estate grown.  The vines are mature and strong continually producing amazing fruit year after year.

First impressions are important and this Cabernet won’t disappoint you.  Bing cherry and raspberries immediately surface after that first swirl and sniff, as it matures in the glass you will get subtle hints of butter, dark chocolate, and Carmel.   Be sure to enjoy the steak of your pleasure, there is no greater compliment.

The grapes were hand harvested, by family and friends on September 24th,  of 2004. The joy and love with which this fruit was picked is evident in the finished product. This wine was aged in 50% new French Oak for 20 months.

Allegresse Vineyards introduces
a totally ”Groovin” Zinfandel!

Release date: 3/4/06

This bottle of wine has a berry nose with hints of chocolate. The attack is full and may even give you the illusion of sweetness however it is completely dry. The high 15.9% alcohol can fool you. Once you bring this Zin into the middle of your palate you will find it is the full bodied wine you expected. It has great viscosity (legs) that will hold up perfectly to red meats, I recommend a lamb dish! Finally, the finish will leave you longing for the next taste. It will stay with you minutes after the wine is gone.

The Zinfandel was harvested in mid-September. The fruit came in at 28 brix and soaked up to 29.5. Let’s just agree, that is a whole lot of sugar! As most Zin’s love to do, fermentation would stick not just once but twice. We worked on this wine for months and some time after the New Year it finally went dry. I swore never to do another Zin again. How quickly you forget the pain! We have a beautiful 2005 Zinfandel patiently waiting for 2007 to approach.

Enjoy this wine alone or with that special meal!

Allegresse Vineyards introduces
the 2004 “Lovechild”

Pre-Release 3/15/06 “Heather’s Birthday!”

This wine was specially blended for our wine club. If you are searching for the perfect wine that you can serve as a nightly drinker, Lovechild is the solution. We have selected four barrels of our 2004 vintage two of Cabernet Sauvignon and two of Zinfandel. The wine was aged in seasoned French and American oak barrels.

Lovechild is amazing. A week after bottling it is ready to drink. If you can be patient enough to let this wine breathe about thirty minutes the layers will start revealing themselves. The nose will give you hints of caramel and vanilla. The attack is full of fresh red fruit and lingers minutes after it's gone. The cool thing about this wine is how it drinks with food.

Nothing was difficult about the Lovechild blend. It naturally blended to a perfect balance. The color is brilliant and the moderate alcohol leaves you with a smooth finish.

We recommend you stock up on Lovechild. After several tasting trials with this wine we can honestly say this wine could sell for twenty five dollars or more. It won't last long so be sure to get with Heather early and reserve your allotment. It is our intention to create a Lovechild every year for our wine club. Although each year it will be a little different it will always be a great value.
